Open Studio Time!

 Hey Friends!
It's that time of year again...
That's right..
My Open Studio!
This year I've extended to a two day show.
Come take a peek inside my barn studio.
Shop paintings and unique art as well as my Art At Home Collection...eiderdowns, pillows and poufs.
There's even some really swell vintage goodies in the mix.
I mean really fab vintage.
Amanda of Schuyler Pond will be joining in with her luscious mix of wares and treats.
Hey, never too early to be able to cross a few people off your holiday gift list. This will give you a jump start and bragging rights as the best gift giver ever!
Ah heck, there will even be a refreshment table.

Come one, come all!

We've been working like whirling dervishes to put together a showcase to dazzle and delight!
So it's time to cancel all your other plans, call in sick to work,
ditch the Saturday chores and beg a family member to sit in for you at your kids soccer game.

The studio's never been cleaner, the barn's never been cleaner or prettier.
So satiate your curiosity.
Take a peek and go home with a treasure.

On hand will be my original artwork, my new Art At Home Collection including tuffets, eiderdowns and pillows.
As well as Schuyler Pond Art At Home pieces...trivets, placemats, soaps etc.
We will be peppering in a few vintage goodies as well.

One day only!!!

the studio

The truth......I hate to shatter the myth about work in the studio...it's almost like pulling back the curtain to expose the wizard of Oz. For those of you who would like to envision me oh so perfectly coiffed locks, rosy cheeked with farm-fresh skin ......twirling about , my brush like a magic wand sprinkling glistening droplets of paint on a milky white canvas, look away now!
It's not quite that glam.

It's usually me....dressed in yesterdays jeans....(deemed not yet dirty enough for the wash) hair jailed under a hat...not quite good enough for parole. Manicured nails ...why bother? I must say I do have the civilized sense for a smattering of concealer and mascara.

The visuals aren't great....it is work after all.

Currently I am working on a hodge-podge of paintings. watching paint dry with paper-thin patience, I usually have a handful going at once. Right now I'm creating a series of whimsical "leaping" animals....as seen in the photo . As always a bright floral is laying in wait for another swish of goopy paint. I find I have a weedy garden of ideas and not enough time!

There is something to be said about the creative process....taking a mere thought and making it visual. How best to convey your thoughts to others.
Jennifer

p.s. My moody studio mascot, Patsy (a.k.a. peanut butter, peppermint patty, dirty gert, patty cake, cleopatsy, sassy cat) is to blame for any and all cat hair found in your painting.
Cherish it and know that she shed it out of love ....just take it as a sign of authenticity.
